BEER TASTING

At UŁAN BROWAR we offer craft beer, brewed on site in our tuns; it is where we plan unique recipes for tap beer at UŁAN BROWAR as well as where we sell bottled beer.

Beer brewing starts with mixing malt and water to produce mash. This is done at various temperatures as malt enzymes activate and transform starch into sugar. Then the brewer pours mash into the fermenter, where wort is separated from solids.

During the sparge process, water at a proper temperature removes the remains of sugar, and the entire content is filtered into the tun. In it, once the boiling temperature is reached, hop is added to add bitter taste. Then wort is left to boil for approx. an hour.

Finally, a specific amount of hop is added to add aroma to future beer. The liquid is cooled and then transported to fermenters, where yeasts are added. After a week or so, yeasts transform most sugar into alcohol and fermentation is nearly over. In the following 4–5 weeks beer undergoes cold storage (lagering) and then it is served to our guests.

You are welcome to take a tour around UŁAN BROWAR combined with tasting of the beer we brew on site.

Our first beers were the result of cooperation between UŁAN BROWAR and BROWAR SETKA brewery.

There is no creation without cooperation. We got together and got down to brewing. When two beer makers put their heads together, the beer is twice as good.

PLATOON-COMMANDER

- Sir, do you know where oat is?
- Oat for the horses?
- Nay! For beer brewing!
This dialogue never really took place in the uhlans’ history, but we really appreciate writing history anew. Bearing in mind the words of the sturdy veterans, we created creamy Stout beer with oat, with the aroma of coffee, chocolate, and roasted grain. How about you raise your glass and drink to the memory of all the courageous platoon-commanders?
